Message from the Team
Welcome to our latest update. This month has been marked by global engagement, outstanding athlete achievements and the opportunity to support the development of undergraduate students through our internship programme. These stories highlight the breadth of Prorizon’s impact; from international championships to individual victories and the learning experiences we provide for emerging talent.
World Aquatic Championships in Singapore
Prorizon recently took to the global stage at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. Our CEO, Joly Zou, and data scientist, Luis Weekes, were on the ground not just to connect with key partners, but to listen.
We surveyed nearly 100 of the world’s elite swimmers and held in-depth discussions with coaches and staff to understand one thing: what are the biggest hidden challenges in sport? The response was overwhelming and clear, validating the critical need for our work.
Our CEO, Joly Zou, shares her reflection:
“This trip was a powerful reminder of our core mission. The world’s top athletes told us their biggest challenges are often mental—from managing the emotional highs and lows post-competition to balancing the ‘business’ of being an athlete alongside studies and work. This need is even more critical for those from smaller nations who lack large support teams, making access to data and knowledge a lifeline. We left more committed than ever to providing the tools that align these crucial mental and physical factors.”
The insights we gathered are too important not to share. We are compiling our findings into an exclusive industry report—stay tuned for the results.
Even more excitingly, these conversations have already progressed into active discussions with several national teams about piloting the Prorizon platform. It was a significant step forward in our mission, and we can’t wait to share what comes next.
Prorizon Awarded Create Growth: Large Project Grant by Innovate UK
We are thrilled to announce that Prorizon has been awarded an Innovate UK grant as part of the DCMS Create Growth Programme. This project, “digital twin intelligence and generative AI: personalised health and performance optimisation” (£200,000), will run from 1st October 2025 to 31st March 2026 and marks a pivotal step in our mission to redefine performance through precision.
This funding will directly accelerate both our technology, IP development and commercialisation within high-performance sports. Securing this funding and support from Innovate UK is a powerful endorsement of our vision and technology. We are excited to embark on this project and translate this investment into tangible advancements for the athletes and communities we serve.
Supporting Student Development
This summer we were pleased to host two undergraduate interns, providing them with opportunities to apply their academic knowledge in practice while also contributing fresh perspectives to our work. Supporting students at this stage in their careers is important to us, not only in helping them develop skills and confidence, but also in ensuring Prorizon continues to benefit from the insights of athletes who understand the realities of sporting performance first-hand.
Luca Evans
Luca, a third-year MChem Chemistry student at the University of Bath, joined Prorizon before starting his placement at Stowe School. Alongside his academic studies, he is an accomplished powerlifter and coaches both at the University of Bath and privately.
During his time with Prorizon, Luca contributed to a range of projects, including the design of banners for our presence at the Singapore World Aquatics Championships. He also supported our thinking on the design of the athlete dashboard, bringing a fresh perspective to how data could be presented and used most effectively. In addition, he worked closely with Luis, receiving weekly guidance on coding and technical skills that he described as central to his growth and confidence.
Reflecting on his experience, Luca noted that working in a start-up environment demonstrated how quickly ideas can be translated into real impact. His combined expertise as both a scientist-in-training and competitive athlete aligns with Prorizon’s commitment to embedding direct athletic understanding alongside professional expertise within our team.
Nathan Holmes
Nathan joined Prorizon over the summer, shortly before being awarded a first-class degree in Physics from the University of Bath. He is now continuing his studies with a Master’s degree in Data Science. Alongside his academic achievements, Nathan is also an international swimmer, bringing direct experience of the demands of elite sport.
During his internship, Nathan worked closely with Luis to build data analytics experience ahead of starting his Master’s programme. He also fed back knowledge and practical tips to inform product improvements, helping us refine how athlete data are translated into meaningful outputs.
We are proud to have supported Luca and Nathan at this stage in their careers and look forward to seeing their continued development. We also hope to work with them again in future as they progress in both their academic and sporting endeavours.
Athlete Success Story: Amelia Paton
September saw the launch of the UK’s first full DEKA FIT, hosted at the East Midlands Derby Arena, home to one of the country’s most prestigious velodromes and now the stage for this landmark fitness event. With ten zones, 5 km of running and one epic challenge, the competition attracted athletes from across the UK and Internationally to test themselves in this highly demanding fitness format. Importantly, this was also the final opportunity for athletes to qualify for the World Championships in December, adding further intensity to the competition.
Against this backdrop, Prorizon athlete Amelia Paton delivered an outstanding performance, winning the UK’s Inaugral Women’s Elite DEKA FIT race. Remarkably, she returned the very next day to compete in the Female Doubles 59 and under age group category (where the ages of both team members are combined). Partnering with Brittany Marsland, the pair secured gold, capping off a weekend of exceptional achievement.
Her back-to-back accomplishments demonstrate not only resilience and team-work, but also the value of tailored preparation and recovery strategies. Amelia continues to inspire both athletes and our team alike.
Thank You
We would also like to extend our thanks to Dr Jamie Miles, who has been with us as a Zinc Fellow for the past nine months. Jamie has been instrumental in supporting both our data science and our broader product development, providing valuable insights that have helped shape our direction.
Alongside his work with Prorizon, Jamie is a clinical academic, CIAO (Chief Innovation, Improvement and AI Officer) at Barnsley Hospital NHS Trust and an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in emergency care. A former keen rugby player, he brings an important perspective that bridges health and sport. For us, his expertise in healthcare has complemented our data analytics capabilities, strengthening our drive to integrate health with performance. Although his Fellowship has now concluded, we hope that Jamie will continue to advise us as we progress. We are truly grateful for his contribution and ongoing support.
Closing Note
This month has highlighted the breadth of our activity — from international engagement at the World Aquatic Championships, to athlete success at the UK’s first DEKA FIT, and the contributions of students beginning their professional journeys. Each of these reflects the importance we place on combining scientific expertise with lived sporting experience.
We look forward to building on this momentum and to sharing further developments in the months ahead.
